Miss Howard.) Wednesday, the 16th Day oe July, 1947 Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of nine members, to consider all matters relating to public health, infectious diseases, contagious diseases, hospitals, and to local authorities having charge of these matters, and to other matters affecting public health which may be referred to it: the Committee to consist of Mr. Aderman, Mr. Anderton, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Herron, Mr. Marshall, Mr. Paikea, Mrs. Ross, Mr. T. E. Skinner, and the Mover."—(Hon. Miss Howard.) Ordered, " That all petitions not finally dealt with during the session of 1946 be again referred to the same Committees as they were referred to during the said session."—(Right Hon. Mr. Fraser.) Friday, the 25th Day oe July, 1947 Ordered, " That the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill be referred to the Public Health Committee." —(Hon. Miss Howard.) Friday, the 12th Day oe September, 1947 Ordered, " That the petition of W. Adams and 205 others (being residents of the Borough of Takapuna), for the removal of the North Shore refuse-destructor from its present site, be referred to the Public Health Committee." —(Mr. Moohan.) Tuesday, the 18th Day oe November, 1947 Ordered, " That the Health Amendment Bill be referred to the Public Health Committee."— (Hon. Mr. Nordmeyer, for the Hon. Miss Howard.)

REPORTS Food and Drugs Bill I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has carefully considered the Food and Drugs Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed without amendment. 22nd July, 1947. Hospital and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has carefully considered the Hospital and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill, and recommends that the Bill be allowed to proceed without amendment. 31st July, 1947. No. 63/1946. —Petition of V. Hetherington and 149 Others, of the Waikato and Thames Valley Districts Praying that the science of naturopathy, ehiropractics, and osteopathy be recognized by the Government, and that steps be taken to control same by statute. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee is of the opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration, and recommends that a Committee of inquiry be set up to take evidence in regard to the giving of recognition to naturopathy, ehiropractics, and osteopathy, and the advisability of setting up a Board of Examiners to govern the practice of same in the Dominion. 12th September, 1947. No. 13. —Petition of W. Adams and 205 Others, of the Borough of Takapuna Praying for the removal of the North Shore refuse-destructor from its present site. The Committee recommends that the petition be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. The Committee also recommends that the destructor be abandoned altogether and that the disposal of rubbish be by means of the Bradford tipping system, to be continued on the present site. Bth October, 1947. No. 60.—Petition of the Corporations of the Boroughs op Takapuna, Devonport, » Birkenhead, and Northcote, the County op Waitemata, and other Organizations Praying for the establishment of a surgical and medical hospital with full ancillary services on the North Shore, Auckland. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for consideration 6th November, 1947.

Health Amendment Bill I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has carefully considered the Health Amendment Bill, and recommends that it be allowed to proceed with the amendment shown in the copy of the Bill hereto attached. 20th November, 1947. No. 36.—Petition of Rosina Louise Woodhouse, of Christchurch Praying for compensation in respect of injuries allegedly sustained by her daughter during hospital treatment. I have the honour to report that the Public Health Committee has carefully considered this petition, and recommends that it be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. W. T.
